Advertising

How much percentage wise did you guys that gross over 125K spend this year? We were really watching our dollars this year and tried something different. We didn't spend 1 cent on advertising. We have depended on referrals and our existing web site this year and we are busier than ever. Last month we doubled our revenue and are turning down work. Our landscaping is at least 3 weeks out. Now I am not saying this is the only way to do it but for us it has worked this year. BTW we are mowing 6 days a week and last week I fired one of our HOA's because there demands were unrealistic and I am not worried one bit.

I believe in advertising. I do alot more volume than 125k but I spend about 5% on advertising. My goal is to have 15 crews one day, so just rely on referrals is not going to cut it.

several rounds of postcards, 3-4% of gross including website work.
Good advertising is key to sustaining growth.

Thanks for the replies so far. Are you guys just lawn care or do you also full maintenance. We are the latter.

last year i did newspaper ads, i got 1 account out of it. and i also did service magic and i got 10 accounts off of that. but not worth paying for the leads this year i just advertise on the internet and that did nothing so far. i also put my logo on my truck and that has gotten people to see me but nothing yet. next year im going to pass out 5,000 flyers and see how that works.
