Not to get long winded about it... You need SHARP trimmers. You need to go over the boxwood multiple times and shake your hand in it a couple times. And you cannot rush- float the trimmer over the shrub with your arms.

If your legs, back and arms do not hurt when you finish 20-30 of them, you are doing it wrong.

And yes, I was thinking today bout a different rate for straight trimming. It's worth it.

AWESOME WORK!

You definately know what you're doing, and you have some beautiful properties.

Some of the nicest work i've seen on this site.

I like the pictures of the walmart mulching, same thing here happens here...no edging, red dyed (eww) piles up around the trunk

Anyways, keep up the good work

Thanks guys. If I ever finish mulching, I'll get some actual plant install or project pics on here.

I've posted pics of this house before, last Fall. Here's the spring clean-up... this place is huge, I don't even have pics of the two sides. Almost 200 bags of Fargo Cyprus. The edging is non-stop.

Man, how many yards of mulch are you planning on going through this year? Looks like you've already rocked out a semi-load.

Your hardwood mulch looks like ours around here. Not quite as dark as normal and more of a blond color rather than a chocolate color.

I have no idea. It's probably not as much as you (or I) would think. I'm going to add up my invoices on purchased hardwood and figure it out. Nick, you have me kinda curious now! It can't be that impressive... I know guys who blow thru a semi a week around here. I wish I did more bagged than bulk sometimes... but my bagged jobs aren't that many.

The bark hardwood I get is pretty decent. Just enough "fines" and organic stuff, but still fluffy and not clumpy and "dirty dark"... if that makes any sense at all. But yea, after a rain and a few weeks, it'll wash out a bit to a lighter color.

Calling around and lining up a semi-load of mulch this year, every supplier said strait out that their mulch wasn't as dark as it normally is as they've moved so much volume this year that they haven't been able to "age" any of the batches that they produce.

Basically I've noticed this around our area as every hardwood mulch job I've seen this year seems to be on the lighter side of the color scheme.

I could get a semi.... but I wouldn't move it fast enough and it would sit for a bit, getting wet and gross. I'm real picky about that. I hate even getting bad scoops at the nursery that have clumpy, wet chunks. At this point, I still prefer to get my hardwood steamy and fresh off the truck. Where I load up, they go thru one or sometimes two a day- so you're always getting a good load.

I would hate to think what our 15 inches of rain in the past month would have done to 65 yards I woulda had sitting at the shop...
