Deal or no deal?
I have found a 2008 Skag SWZU36A 36" .
Less that 12 hours on it and looks brand new. Also has the sulky and mulching kit on it. It is about a 6 hour drive to pick up. Price is a firm $4,000. I was also thinking about a Quick 36 dually which can be had equipped like the Skag for around $3,800 delivered to my driveway. The Quick has a 3 week waiting time for delivery. I am really torn between the two. Could you guys give me your take as to which one you would pick. |

scag by far,(simply the best). dont know too much about the quick but the scag has to be built better! did you try to get a price on shipping the scag? it might be cheaper than driving 6 hours at 3.00 a gallon! did you try to get a price on a new one (scag) or a exmark 36? i know the sulky and mulch kit is a plus. three weeks is a long wait for the quick. i know my scag dealer gets deliveries every friday. why three weeks? did you try ebay?

Gas will run around $150 and will most likely stay overnight vs. driving 12 hrs. straight. Figure another ~50 or so for a room and I'm looking at another $200 on top of the 4K.
I don't think I could come close to that for shipping on a 500# machine. Owner states he paid ~$6500 for it new. The only dealer around here did not have one but they are known for their high prices so I didn't even ask. I do know the Ultimate's are pricey. If anyone could comment on the price they paid for one it would be appreciated. The Quick factory cannot keep up with the demand and is backlogged 3 weeks. I like the lower weight and smaller overall size of the Quick but I have heard some negs on their deck (clogging, flow,etc.). Have not heard much about the Skag, it has the Advantage deck on it. I know the Skag has the rep. of being a very heavy duty machine but it will not be used every day. Either one would be sufficient for my needs for years to come. I think the resale would be better on the Skag if I would choose to sell later but I'm not too concerned about that. Not much available on ebay for either one in the condition I would prefer. The Quicks I see posted here sell pretty fast it seems like. I'm leaning toward the Skag right now. Anyone got any other thoughts? |

I paid 2500 for one with about 400 hrs. It was an ultimate 48" 17 kawi. I would hold off. That is ALOT of money for fairly small machine.

I did run across a nice 48" belt Skag unit today for $2000. Good deal I thought, but too big for my needs plus I want a hydro. I have been keeping an eye or Craig's list as well as the classifieds here. |
