if your not making money off the account or if you are but they are not worth the headaches......fire em. Thats why you are a business owner, you make the choices.

I just fired a PITA today. She questioned every charge and then wanted to pick and choose what she pays for AFTER the work is done. This account really didn't fit into my route anyway. I have too many good customers that I would rather service. Don't be afraid to pull the plug.

Fire them by making them quit. "Due to the attention that your lawn needs, your price will now be double what it was."

If they keep paying and it still isn't worth it do it again.. until they leave, or until you are satisfied with the compensation.

I guess it would depend on the circumstances but generally your are sweet and nice and tell them you are not able to take care of their account anymore, never burn bridges you never know who they are friends with

If you know a landscaper that would fit them better give them the name and number

I have fired a number of customers over the years. I had one tell me he just was not satisfied and I had done everything he asked included retreats which were not agronomically necessary. I told him that "there are some people in this world that will never be satisfied with anything and you are one of them".

Get rid of the PITA and move on.....not worth worrying about, there are millions out there who really need and appreciate our services.

I have found this method to work well. It is fair to all parties.

I had to get rid of an account because their teen age, centerfold daughter was killing me. She would constantly prance around the pool wearing next to nothing and get right up in my face whenever possible. She always wanted to help and bombarded me with questions and mindless drivel. Applying sun tan lotion was not in my job description. I finally caught her mother at home one day and told her she was going have to find someone else to do their work. She asked me to check out some decking boards so I walked around the house to the pool. She came out a few minutes later wearing a robe which she promptly dropped to the ground. Stark naked underneath - another centerfold. Straight out of The Graduate. I walked away. I now regret that. Kind of.
