Ok...another AE and gilsonit question

Thanks for the help guys. Got my wand and hose from sealmaster. But swear I could build one for less...it's pretty simple.

But anyway. I have a 100 gallon tank and trash pump system. I posted another thread about mixing AE and CT in the same tank.....but I was told to stay away from Coal Tar. By sealmaster....even though they sell both.

I was also told I could spray AE out of a trash pump. SO...can I use the samem tank for AE and gilsonite? You know...I'd clean out as much as possible before mixing. Otherwise I'll buy another tank...and try to use the same pump and wand.....or just hand spread AE. (most people still use gilsonite around my way...But AE is cheaper than gilsonite from my vendor)

Thanks,
Gary

If you're referring gilsonite as the naptha solvent based sealer, then NO, you cannot just simply use the same tank for A.E.

A.E sealers required a diff tank, diff pump, compressor, hydraulic agitated pump etc.

Then you would have to add sand and additives to your A.E sealer and you won't be able to simply clean them off, especially the sand in the tank.

Thanks Gauvreau....

I took your advice and got my wand and hose from Seal Master.

The only reason I asked....Seal Master in my area, said I could spray their AE w/ out sand and I could use the trashpump system.....just might have to dilute it w/ water.

But I'm sure my driveways will be small because I'm adding this to my lawn biz....so I'll just hand apply the AE and add sand if needed.

Thanks for all the help guys.

Gary

Ya or you can get a digraph pump.

If your only doing residential driveways then save you the trouble and just squeegee them or brush them.

Have you got any luck yet getting driveways?

None yet.....

I got my system all together and ordered 500 bucks worth of gilsonite for my driveway. I got LN11 from Seaboard delivered to my local Sherman Williams paint store.

Got my tank all together...then my brand new trash pump wouldn't start. So I didn't spray my driveway or advertise yet.

Question - how do you store your equipment/tank?? Do I need to keep the end of my wand in kerosene so it doesn't clog?

Leave left over sealer in the tank.....what keeps it from drying and clogging? Or do I need to empty my tank after every use.

Looks like I'll need a brush/squeegee holder if I'm going to do all the small driveways by hand.

Thanks for the help!

For some reason I never cleaned my tips this year and never had a problem.

My brass tips will never clog. Just need to spray for like 5 secs at first to unclog it. If you use ceramic tips tho, they always need to be very clean in Varsol / paint thinner.

Just need to keep your tanks full and you will be fine.
