True, but Id get her a great deal and help her keep some business and make some $$. Since she maintains it Im sure her work is great. I'd guarantee it if the purchaser/ customer promises me they will follow my care instructions to the letter.

My offer stands to her or anyone else on here needing good deals on wholesale stock. I can and will get it for ya for a small markup.

Hey thanks! Mighty American of you!! I have found out that I can buy in KY with NO problem - wholesale.

And yes I got my license as of Aug. I didn't do any work in July. Before that it was like 3 jobs to make sure this was going to work. I want to only do it right or not do it at all. Someone asked me why I made it a business...Said to do it as a "hobby"....I guess to "hide" the money ????

Not to look a gift horse in the mouth BUT - how does someone else buying the plants for me fix anything? If I am still planting it doesn't that mean I have to have the license? The law states that if you purchase and plant that you have to have a license. You have to have a holding area to store it in between buying and planting It sounds like a huge government racket to me!!

What does the Nursery Dealer License protect? I'm just not understanding this. Is it so I don't install infested stock or what?

Please help me understand this stupid process! Sounds like we all need to march on Washington - The little guy has a hard enough time making $$.

No matter what - I have to have the license.

Susan, Let me suggest you call the ODA Div. of Plant Industry and ask them under your circumstances if you need this license. Others on here will probably disagree with me, but I'm not so sure that you need the nursery dealer's license if you are just passing through the plants and are not storing them in a holding area (where presumably they could become infected).

When it comes to licensing, don't trust me or anyone else on a forum-----
call the ODA.

i dont store any just pick up from the nursery and plant the same day. i was told by tom o'brien (oda) that i needed the license.

How much is the license in Ohio? Here in MI it is $100 per year.

CLARK LAWN: Who is Tom O'Brien? I was told by an inspector that a dealers license is not necessary if you are not "holding" plants. This is why I suggested Susan call the ODA office. You've been told one thing; I was told another. And Susan will probably get some other answer.

he is the ODA rep for this area. he stopped me on a jobsite one day and told me about this. luckly all we were doing was mulch that day. he told me that if you do any planting you have to have the license.

What year was that? I wonder if the law has changed or the interpretation has changed. With the low budget of the ODA, I haven't seen an inspector in quite a long time.

i just talked to him in march at a seminar, he spoke to everyone and told us all that we are required to have one. they went from 75/year to 125/year.
