the original Hydro-Saver controller

If someone from the NYC metro area mentions replacing an old Hydro-Saver controller, they will be talking about something like this. I never did see the remote control for this (the connector is a 1/4-inch phone jack)

I have some in my garage. One still works fine. The others, I always wanted to fiddle with it and see what went wrong. Never got around to it.

The clock mechanism used to be available as a replacement part.

Looks like something an ex-Gruman or Fairchild engineer made. Made in Deer Park, Long Island.

I see a LOT still in service at fast-food chain restaurants all over. The slider switches are temperamental - look at them sideways and they do not work. Then suddenly work fine.

The clock mechanism is what tickles me. They didn't want to try to do that part solid-state, and used the same sort of mechanism that might switch Christmas lights.

The first question to the customer on a service call "Ma'am, you didn't turn that dial counter clock wise did you?" (Stated with you best Dan Aykroyd imitation.
