Tire mounting tips

Finally got tired of filling a drive tire on the mower and replaced it. The problem was trying to get the tire on the rim even with tire spoons. The rim was too tall to fit onto a Harbor Freight tire mount w/o putting an extension onto it. The mower is a Scag belt drive. Any ideas on an easy way to change tires.

Rick

I'm old fashioned and old as well. I snap a long nose visegrip on the rim and use a couple of large screw drivers(spoons). Work in one direction away from the visegrips. It always helps to lube the tire and the rim before starting. I've been a couple of the tire removal/installation machines in a shop situation and it seems like each one has their shortcomings unless you spend bigger bucks.

Exactly. Vice grips are your friend when doing small tires. Lots of lube and just go easy on the tire bead.

I'll go one step further and recommend certain YouTube instructional videos,
you'll have to search for it but after watching one or two of those I did my
tire in 5 minutes lol

One other thing, you need the right tire mount tool, there's a couple different kinds.
