Opinion based on long experience. You put your valves to open into empty air filled pipes. I'll put my valves to open into water and partially or fully filled pipes.

My new medication is working, I've mellowed. You're only a piker/hack, getting a little old to be a dweeb.

[QUOTE=RhettMan;3757969]I'd like to know how people with PHD's sleep at night QUOTE]

I, for one, can say they don't sleep at all. In the case of my ex-wife, whom possesses a Masters in EE with doctoral work in artificial intelligence programming (think defense department and smart bombs) plus a medical degree - she didn't sleep, she passed out.

I'm not kidding, she averaged a gallon and a half of Jim Beam Black whiskey per week plus at least a case of beer - had the bubble butt to prove it too.

Okay, all of that aside, I'd say most people don't have a clue what it takes to properly understand the dynamics associated with a professional trade.
This is where your ability to educate plus selling an ice cream cone to an eskimo comes in.

The trick is learning who is worth the effort and who gets a dial tone.

One of the most difficult things I had to learn when running a business is the old adage that the customer is always right - isn't true at all.

Now I have a rather thick skin and a pretty weird sense of humor to match. If I had received a call like that I'd probably respond with something along the lines like "Speak-up - I can't hear you, your wife is moaning too loud".

I can't wait to sell out and be done with this horsecrap.

So what? You think experience doing something automatically makes everything you say and done right? Guess what ... ten thousand years of experience will not make something wrong right.

I do? Now you fancy yourself a mind reader too? How many years of experience do you have at that trade?

I pointed out the problems with your less than informed statements about water hammer and valves. Where you choose to put your valves and if you manifold them or not has no bearing on your statements regarding valves and closing/opening speeds. If a valves opening/closing speed has no impact on water hammer, then perhaps you should let all them valve manufacturers and engineers know they are a bunch of dip shiits. While you are at it, you might as well submit your version of the laws of physics so they have something to work with.

Last time I was on, it was Boots and Kiril.

Now it's Fimco and Kiril.

Some things never change.
