small trees in lawn

I have a new lawn as of sept 01. Over the past two months I have had a few small tree saplings coming up in my lawn. Is there anyway to kill these without harming the lawn.

thanks

that depends, they could be root suckers from a tree in the area. if you were to try and kill them you could do damage to the bigger tree. but if they are just trees coming up from unwanted seeds just pull them out or dig them out.
I have that same problem at a customers house with trumpet vine, root suckers come up everywhere in the lawn during the summer.
