Virgil was no hack, his kids were. The book he wrote in 1976, "Sprinkler Irrigation Systems" is still viable after all these years. It comes up on Amazon & E-Bay every once in a while.

1970 called they want there piece of crap timer back! the battery backup wire was cut, you had to hold the door open on the box to try to set the timer, and the instructions on how to try to set the timer was hand written! granted the timer wasn't that bad--just old but the sprinkler system itself
![]() wow-got pics of it but for some reason they aren't loading. so ill take some more tomorrow when i go back to replace the timer with a twentieth century one.

My boss was telling me he had wrote a book, be interesting to see how they did it back then, or the method behind the madness.

There was no madness; it simply predicated how sprinklers should be done right, which is just as current today, if anyone would pay freakin' attention.

I still see that controller a few times a year. Does what it needs to. Easy to operate if you know what you're doing. I have a ton of photos to upload when things slow down. Nice lightning related job at a church this week - New Pro C, three shorted solenoids, fused wires, wires 0.5" below the grass, lots of fun.

Mike or someone mentioned a rain sensor on the dog house. How about right next to the electric meter, in a corner, 8' up, and with the soffit blocking it?
