I run stihl .95 round. I trim around alot of vinyl and its real smooth just not as aggressive as the crossfire. You can probaly just pick up an off brand from a supplier like am leonard. ...and itll be just as nice as brand name lines. ..I could be wrong.

I guess my question is do you find a BIG difference between name brands and cheap brands?

Ive yet to try an off brand, but only out of convenience. I plan to try something less expensive. I cant imagine it will be night and day. Im sure someone will chime in.

I bought J-thomas red line which I think is the cheaper line???? It frays at the tip which is not good. but it is really cheap like $25 for 3lbs. Its .095. Never tried the .105 but will soon.

I finally tried some line other than Echo and it's great RHINO. The helper used it first on the SRM 230 and praised it. I tried it on the SRM 280 and it worked very good. The string trimmer lines have memory from the spool, and the weather changes which causes a problem some times.

You bought a monster of a trimmer. We run PAS280 and running it as a trimmer is the last thing I want to do. Way heavy. I think any 105 will last. The shear power of the thing is what is fraying the line so fast. I only use them for serious grass hogging.

LOL! The Rhino Line is 95. Neither of the helpers ever touch the SRM 280 related to the weight. I like it and Im use to the sound which normaly lets you no something is not in sinc. You could run .85 to reduce the weight..LOL. I don't think the weight difference is over a pound.
