found this in one of the boxes--bad pic. im not sure what it is, think it might be a coachwhip?

More underground backflow preventers.
They don't even look very old but the valve handles are already rotting away.

So true. I don't use brass ball valves in ground anymore on PVC, just SCH 80. Why they can't make stainless handles is a mystery to me.

actually picked the little fella up and threw him up by the house. looks like he had been in there awhile there was skin wrapped around one of the pipes.
