Ford vs Chevy

1) 08 Ford f250 (5.4l)
2) 08 Ford F350 (v10l)
3) 08 Chevy 2500hd (6.0l)

Single cab 4x4 truck which would you choose to haul a 16ft landscape trailer with 2 walkbehinds and handhelds. Also needs to be able to haul scrape metal and haul heavy equipment when needed.

Uncle has the v10 in an f-250 that engine is beast, got like 200k miles on it no problems never been to the shop. Gas mileage is something to be desired though.

Well we don't buy trucks for there mileage. That's what i have a car for. I want a truck that has the power to pull and carry whatever i need it to. The truck makes me money no matter what mileage it gets period.

The v10 has a higher towing capacity than the diesel if I'm not mistaken. He tows a 30ft bumper pull camper trailer with it all the time and he doesn't think twice.

My F350 03 crew 6' bed 92500 mi and my F350 04 extra cab 8' bed 119,000 mi pull my 24' enclosed trailers with each a Z,a 48WB, and a 60 WB and probably 750lbs of extras (weed whackers,blowers,racks, saws, hedge trimmers,gas ect...). Pulls no problem up hills both ways!!!!! It doesn't sag nearly as bad as my 04 chevy 2500hd!!! Mabey 7-8 miles per gallon each!!! Pulls my 14000lb dump trailer with 7500lb tractor no prob either!!!BIG STEVE B CT STRENGTH WSL

I would go with the V10. The gas mileage isn't going to be but maybe 2 to 3 mpg better with the 5.4. When you need the extra power to pull the heavy equipment you will be glad you did. The 5.4 will struggle when you get over appx 7k lbs.

I'd go with #3 just cause I am a Chevy guy. However, the fords are really pretty.

IMO the 5.4l would be plenty to haul whatever you could fit on a trailer mowing wise. You'd probably hit the safe towing capacity of the trailer axles before bogging the motor down.

Motor are like d*cks. Everyone wants a big one!!

Just curious as to why you don't have a diesel listed???

Correct,the heads were redesigned in 09' and no longer contain the shielded porcelain tip. There is no need to remove and coat the new design plug. It is nearly identical to the older style plugs in the pre 04' 2V 5.4L's.

Also, the "tool" has never failed to work for me and I have extracted dozens of these broken spark plugs. It is true that the job becomes much more difficult after an individual has attempted to remove one of them by themselves without knowledge of the tool or the procedure.

Falcon, I have not experienced the concern you were explaining with the COP ignition design. The coils have been very reliable, although they do fail. We have a "stress test" to diagnos them. I would like to know more about what you have heard in terms of the failure you were mentioning.

Triton - Buy the 08' Chevy if you have to but find an 09' Ford or newer based on all the new quality upgrades Ford Motor Co. has implimented in recent years.
