Go with a V10. You wont use any more gas on average in a heavy duty truck, but will really like the added power. I have driven both the 5.4L and 6.0L GM, and can say get the lowest rear gear ratio you can get if your doing any towing.

My gas engines also have a 100,000 mile warranty and I dont keep trucks for ten years anyway. My old 6.0 powerjoke had a 100,000k warranty and Ford wasnt very good about honoring it. Even if your diesel did last ten years whats the point the rest of the truck is worn out. They do have there place but most diesel owners dont need them and dont bennefit from them. I do have some diesel trucks but they are mid size trucks.

ive had just about every truck you can have...i got more out of my 5.4 f150 than i did my 2500 hd 6.0...7.3 is the best diesel motor out there in regards to overall durability but running my business the way i want it done i could never go back to a gas truck unless i was using it to pull a small trailer around with not much weight on it...otherwise give me a diesel and get the hell out of my way

also your 6.0 was a beast of a motor and i know you cant deny how much power it had...to bad it was a fluke..i had an 05 f350 with the 6.0 and i changed the oil in it at 32,000 miles and it had metal shavings in the oil so i took it to the dealer and they pretty much gave me my money back and i turned around and bought my my 08 f350 and have never looked back

Yeah my 6.0 was a beast but it was broke down more often than not, Ford bought it back after the 11th major warranty claim lol, what a pos! If the 6.7 proves itself reliable for a few years I may buy a gently used one but I will let others find out how reliable it is. Until then my Ford v-10's and Chevy 6.0's will work just fine.
