Try my lawn mowing service for $10 postcard

i was thinking of sending out some postcards with this on it. applies to yards under 1/2 acre...most yards are 1/4 acre around here.

what do you think? i would think this would get some attention.

You might think so, but I don't know. Every year I would see advertised in the local paper $20 lawns...something like that. I thought they were crazy, but might get the phone to ring. I tried it a couple years ago and didn't see an unusual number of phone calls. Of the estimates I gave, all of them were for more than $20 and nobody mentioned anything about my ad. I have also had flyers with a headline titled "3 FREE Mowings" and didn't see an unusual response rate.

With this being said, I have had no luck selling a low price, like one might think.

you risk cutting a bunch of ten dollar lawns and no contracts after.....I wouldnt do it.

I agree, I think you would get a bunch of people, waiting till the grass was crazy high and then calling you for their $10 cut.

Unless you worded the coupon creatively, like "try our service this season, first mowing $10 with a minimum of X cuts contract". Granted that's not much of a deal but it would probably save you from doing a bunch of lawns for a loss, only to never hear from those people again.

Most people who have had their lawn serviced in the past know the going rate. So when mr cheapy comes by it screams Red Flag. It is most likely coming from an inexperienced LCO or someone who decided to cut grass because they lost their job. They aren't stupid.

.....I was thinking of offering free plowing(no shoveling)of snow for 1 month(you pick month). Offer is good for 1st 50 customers. Im thinking it really doesnt snow more 2-3 times in 1 month period, and the cost to acquire a new customer is between $50-$100......so we'll see!
