I've got tickets to go see KANSAS at the end of the month. A HS buddy is coming up to do some head banging with me. Then we'll take our hangover on a fly fishing trip on the Mighty Missouri.

Remember that song " video killed the radio star" . It was true, during the 80,s haveing a cool vid seemed more important then recording a good tune.

If I remember correctly, that was the first vid played on MTV.

That may be true. But the older I get I am finding that I really love the music I grew up with (80s) more than anything else since. I've gone through all sorts of different music styles and groups since that time but nowadays I find myself going back to that era more and more. I really miss a lot of the good true quality music that used to be played back then. Full on bands with guitars, keys, multiple vocalists in harmony, horns, real drum beats, powerful vocals, etc. Give me a great song by Journey, The Cars, ZZ Top, Bon Jovi, Van Halen, Survivor, Huey Lewis, or even Duran Duran and I'll take that stuff any day over half of the crap they got out these days.

And now I officially sound like my dad....

Every now and then, dads would surprise you. Mine (swing music only, please) stuck his head in the door and asked "Who's the drummer?"

Breathe deep the gathering gloom, Watch lights fade from every room.
Bedsitter people look back and lament, Another day's useless energy spent.
Impassioned lovers wrestle as one, Lonely man cries for love and has none.
New mother picks up and suckles her son, Senior citizens wish they were young.
Cold hearted orb that rules the night, Removes the colours from our sight.
Red is grey and yellow white. But we decide which is right. And which is an illusion?

That is correct.

Jim that is good taste in music there. Duran Duran I wouldn't recognize a single song they played other than that I like the list.

I thought it was that song mickey. But we never had mtv , growing up, cable was a luxury that wasnt in the budget. Dad preffered to spend on the finer luxeries in life, like food and shelter.
