Fire pit help

I am a lawn applicator that's wants to have a fire pit built in my backyard. I love looking at fire. Was thinking of just a low ring of rocks in the center of pavers so I can see the fire. It seems most design have a built up ring. Is there a problem with a ground level fire that I am missing.

A firepit can be anything from a literal hole in the ground to an old truck rim to something built up off the ground that costs over 10k. Anything is possible with a firepit

City ordinances... Some cities require the fire pits to have legs, grates, and a top

Old semi truck rim buried flush with the ground and one row of pavers set in ground flush around outside with a plywood top so you can mow over it, works great. Just add beer
