? About going back to a gas burner

I currently have a 06 f250 6.0 4x4. With fuel rising this year and the price difference between gas and diesel I am considering going back to a gas burner. However, In a year my truck will be paid off and I am a firm believer of maintaining debt free equipment. Fuel mileage is a small factor in this because im not use to getting no more than 12.5mpg anyways. We currently use my diesel for pulling a 20ft trailer with 3 mowers and towing a 16 ft spray rig trailer.
I was considering going to a 3/4 ton ford or gm gas burner. Im just scared I will miss the diesel power.

The several guys at my shop that run gas burners with 18 foot trailers and 3 mowers get used to seeing 8 or 10mpg around town. Thats pretty low.

I'm only getting about 9mpg pulling my 8.5X20 enclosed trailer with a diesel.

I'm thinking of going back to a gas burner also. Difference is, I would get rid of the enclosed trailer and get a box truck.

If I keep the enclosed then I'm keeping the diesel, love the power.

Most of the time pulling I get 10-12. I feel like I could get that with a gas burner. I use my truck as my daily driver too so the mileage I put on a year is about a 70/30 split with business being the greater.

You will not get 10-12 with a gas truck. I was getting about 8MPG pulling my 16ft landscape trailer with my f-250 5.4 gasser. That was the last of my gas trucks..... all diesel now.

Diesel trucks are no longer more economical to operate anymore.... infact just the opposite. If you need pulling power though, there is nothing like it.

If you have a diesel now keep it, but with a $.50 dif in price per gallon and $8,000 in new vehical upgrade, I would buy gas in the future. The diesel trucks aren't that much better in fuel economy with the EPA crap installed on them and the gas gets better every year.

No reason to sell it if it's running with no problems. The 6.0 resale value isn't good anyways with it's bad reputation of problems. So you would take a big hit on trade in/sell.

Why would you get into a new payment to save a small amount on fuel. I doubt that a new gasser would end up costing you really any less in fuel then the diesel. But if you need an excuse to get into a 2011 F250 it this does work pretty good.

My fathers chevy 2500 duramax is getting at least 14 mpg towing about 2000 pounds on his tandem axle trailer and with 2 tons of fert in the bed. Our 96 Chevy 350 doing the same gets about 10 mpg.
