Weber Plate Compactor
We are currently looking to buy a Weber CR 7 HO (honda gas) or a Weber CR 7 (lambardini desel). They both have 13500lbs centrifugal force, only difference is the engine. Anyone used Weber's? And if anyone has an opinion on gas vs diesel compactors please share. The diesel is $2,600 more than the gas version. We only have gas compactors now so are diesels really worth the extra money? Thanks!

I have never had anything with diesel engines on them, however I can say that a honda gas engine is Awesome!!!!! sometimes the recoils crap out, but other then that they are almost always one pull on choke, one pull off choke and its running. Greatest small engines ever made. Expensive, but still cheaper than your diesel.
Some things to concider, do you have gas can's on site already? If so then go the gas route. I know i usually don't have diesel cans since i fill my machine anytime its on the trailer. Another thing to concider is if the diesel engine needs anything, parts wise, i'm sure it'll be more expensive then getting honda parts, which are a dime a dozen. Do you use your compactors when its cold out? If so, the diesel might be a little bit of a pain to start, where-as the honda will fire right up, guaranteed! |

what are the service intervals for each compactor's engine? do they expect longer life out of the diesels?

I have 2 webers and love them both. I went with the honda engine and have not had any problems. The oil changes are easy, and the filters are easy to get. With the way diesel prices are going I would get the gas.
Good luck I think you will be happy either way. |
