RE: too cheap

you'd hope they were like just a college kid hoping earn some quick cash. Most lowballers that work in my area are either illegal immigrants or a high school/college kid with a lawnmower in their trunk. I know one kid who charges $10-$15 per cut WITH 2 exmark 36" vikings, a constructon/skid steer trailer, and a F250! he spends that much in gas just driving to his properties! (he only has 5-6) Plus even with the nice equipment it still takes him about an hour and a half to mow an average <1/4 acre lot. which is insane!

The nice thing is that it keeps him busy, and out of my hair, i hate lowballers!

How is he in business? Seriously, how?

hey! don't be mean, I'm still in high school too...
But my rates are competitive not insanely cheap. i think he will be gone before next spring so it wont matter to me. i just don't want people in this area thinking that is what the going rate is because i will not start the mower for 10 bucks... well that's not true i do a house across the street from me that takes around 45 seconds to mow and another 2 minutes to trim and blow and i think anything more than 10 bucks would be too much.. everything else starts at 20 and goes up to 45 or so

for sure, that kid couldn't find his head out of a paper bag, I know for sure he didn't pay for any of that out of his own pocket. I'm just happy that's not how i started out, because in the end, i want to take credit for my own success.

Re:

that's always nice, my dad is currently helping me finance my Grandstand, this is kindof a win-win because I get a piece of equipment that i need, and at the same time, repairing my dad's credit (he was out of work for 2 years, so we used credit ALOT)

I don't mean to be mean either. how can you do 95-110 lawns that you claim in your profile? and how do you transport the equipment. are you in school now as it appears you are on line.

Yes I'm In school and yes I did 50 lawns in three days (15 hours total) with two people pulling Arround a big cart. This year I am going to market my services via flyers compared to just word of mouth last year. Also this year I am adding a tractor to pull the stuff and a third person working also working 1 extra day. Average house takes Arround 6 minutes mowed trimmed edged and blown off so I will cap my work at around 100 lawns and should be able to handle everything just fine.
