Yes, the season is sooooo slow getting started. I think I will mow a couple tomorrow to get started. One is for sure -- new customer that did not make a final cut last Fall.

I've have did much trimming and cutting of low branches, berry/rose briars hanging over edges, and branch cleanup.

Despite loosing a couple of customers early in the Winter because of house sales, I've picked up some new ones. I was concerned I would be starting the season a little thin on mowing customers. The other day I did cleanup on one of my properties, and returned with a $65/wk and a $50/wk job -- neither of which was pursued or expected. People just came to me, "Can you fit me in ...." One is beside two properties already being worked, and another is two doors away in the same neighborhood. That means about a third of my revenue will come out of the same neighborhood, most properties adjacent.

The expected temperatures for the next couple of weeks look unlike the past week. Rather than highs in the 30s, the high temperatures look to be at least 50, and many days in the 60s. Perhaps we are over the hump.

Well, I finally cut my own lawn today.

Not that it needed it - I was just freaking bored.

Maybe next week things will be green...

Just going out and doing some estimates at this point. All equipment is ready to go. I will be mowing next week no matter what.

I just picked up a new account. Woo!

Unfortunately, it's a biweekly which I swore I wouldn't do any more. Boo!

Oh well, it's on my route and a mile and a half from home and at $50/cut for a very simple lawn with no real obstacles, I can't complain.

I cut down some 10' tall hedge-thingies in my back yard and dropped off the debris at Agrecycle today. WOO! I beat the rain! I HATE dumping there when it's wet - a total mud pit. And stinky too! lol

I've done more work for myself than anyone else so far.

Grub control. No food source, no moles.

Additionally, there is bait and traps that are available, but they'll keep coming back until the food source is gone.

Ditto to what 93Chevy said.

Usually, these patches are quite small, say 100 sq ft or less. I have several on my properties.

I've repeated the same advice to many, but it falls on deaf ears. I guess they don't believe it. They work at getting traps, finding cats to catch them (ha, ha!), or some sounding device to "drive them away." Yes, the answer is very simple - cut the food source.
