Vance Refrigeration, Bob Vance

But seriously...http://vanceslandscape.com/

I used to pass them all the time going to school.

Get off the turnpike, they're like a minute South on 18.

That's the one I had found too, think that's the closest place to my job. Thanks Tim!

Anyone know which rental companies rent pick up trucks?

Went to put truck in gear today and the shifter just went all the way to the right. Does nothing - just flops back and forth.

Towed to local garage and they took me and my mower home. Thankfully, this was a "city day" and I wasn't towing my trailer.
Not sure how long it will take to get repaired, so I'm trying to decide if it's worth paying for a rental for the day tomorrow. (Fri)

I can get by with just my 21" push mower tomorrow, so I don't need to tow anything, but a receiver would be nice so I could use my cargo carrier for the mower as I normally do. I'm not lifting an 80 lb mower into a truck bed all day long.

U-Haul certainly has pickups, 1/2T I think. I have seen them at the rental facility on Rt 19, just north of Washington. I don't know about other U-Haul facilities.

You'd think it would be easier to find rental info online. I think this is going to be more trouble than it's worth for one day.

Anything I can find that's convenient to my location doesn't have trucks available.

Meh. I've called all my Friday clients to give them the heads up. If I get to them, I get to them. If not, I lose a day's pay and have to work harder to catch up.

Fingers crossed that it's a repair that can be completed tomorrow.

I like your optimism on getting a repair done in one day...

Didn't you get a new Ferris 36" w/b a few weeks ago? Or, was that somebody else? If you, ... what do you think?

Haha! Well, I'm not holding my breath, but the guy who owns the shop helped me out last week when my wheel bearing went bad. Squeezed me in as the first job the next day and I was out working by 11am. He knows I need the truck to earn a living and seems to appreciate the little guy who "works" for a living.

Yes, I did get the Ferris 36".
I've only got 9 hrs on it, but so far, I'm really pleased with it. Cuts nice, cuts tall grass without hesitation, and is super easy to maneuver.

Most of my lawns are too small to use it on with the side discharge, so I bought a mulch kit. I haven't installed it yet though. It's still early and I may need to knock down some "first cuts", so I'll hold off on the mulch kit.

Thanks for the update on the Ferris. I'm hoping my 16 year old Exmark will make it through the season. I'm using it at least 12-15 hours per week (also putting at least that much time on my ZTR), so I really need it. I've already had the deck belt delaminate, so have made a replacement. It looked good before the season, and went bad quickly. But, if something major breaks, I'm doubting I will put much money into such a repair.
