Fence Installation/Irrigation location

I have a fence to install on a property that has an irrigation system. Most of the fence will be installed around the perimeter where I am told there are no lines. However there are two areas going across the lawn where potential lines maybe. The homeowner is not sure of exact water lines.
Question 1. Is there an easy way to pattern where the lines may be if I draw a grid of the property and placement of sprinkler heads?
Question 2. How deep are the lines usually placed?
Question 3. Are the pipes easy to repair if my auger decides to eat one for lunch?

Any suggestions, Please help.

See if the irrigation contractor has an as built drawing. If not get them to locate the main and wire. Thats the stuff you don't want to damage.

Lateral lines are an easy fix and are not worth the time to locate because you are not going to move the fence anyhow. Your gonna do something with the sprinklers no matter what. Why waste the effort to find the stuff and still have to move pipe?
