Check the CCA rating on your Toro/Exmark battery, then check engine manual.

How come my battery label on my 2010 Toro is 350 CCA (Cold Cranking Amps), but the Kawi. 34/37 Hp engine book that came with my mower says on the last page that a battery with a CCA of 550 is recommended for lawnmowers/snow blowers? Either the battery is not rated high enough or the Kawi. book has a misprint.

Here's what I found:

The battery hold down tray and clamps look like there is no room for a bigger battery and are so precisely fitted to the original battery, that when it comes time to replace, only the original spec. one or smaller will fit. (not a good option).

I tried to find a 550 CCA rated battery for lawn tractors/ZTR's in my battery size dimensions on the Internet, but none that small had a rating that high. This leads me to think maybe the Kawi. engine book is wrong.

It's also possible that Toro/Exmark is using too small a battery for the 34/37 HP engines. I might have hit a sore point with Toro as they or someone deleted my question when I posted it in the Toro Forum on this site.

Maybe Toro/Exmark or Kawi can respond to this post.

I'd also like to hear any input from dealers or users.
