Warranty void if Irr. contractor does not mow 1st year

Is this standard procedure for Irrigation warranties. It sounds as if they are trying to muscle in on the maintenance work.

I have never heard of such a requirment in 30 years in this business. Wouldn't fly with me.

Hmmm. I haven't heard of that either. Now, I've heard of only providing a warranty for plants and lawn installs if the company who installed it maintains it. That's done a lot on commercial jobs. But even then, most people realize it's someone trying to use their muscle too much.

But this is STILL a great idea. You just have to approach it a little different. You must never force things upon a customer. I always give them options and incentives to arrive at the result I want.

In this case, you could say, "We'll provide a full parts and labor warranty for your sprinkler system for 1 year from the date of install. If you sign up for a maintenance package, we'll double that and warranty it for two years." Many people may just sign right up.
