Well, I took you advice and started test driving... Exmark was a little jerky, the Scag Tiger Cat 61" was much smoother but for the same price the Hustler Z4 was a nicer unit and the better ride. I certainly stepped up on my thinking after running around for a little while. I haven't ridden the Bad Boy yet but that is the next stop. I am certainly going up in price as well. Any advice on a Cub Cadet Commercial Tank 60?

I always tell people here that are shopping around, always look at the Bad Boy that is the same price as the other mowers you are looking at, you will be blown away at the options, engine, and tranny on the bb everytime, unless you are out of your budget looking at the other mowers...

I am already out of my price range... I think you are right though on the Bad Boy as far as price and options etc. I was worried about the longevity of the Bad Boy though, and the reliability. I see you have an 07 bb, any issues? I am starting to look at things in the8k range, way too much for what I need. I am a contractor so I want something that can be used commercially and also might do some lawn care on a 30 acre parcel. Not everyday but occasionally, 1 or 2 times per year. I really wanted to stay in the 6k range at the most.

LOL the 07 was the one that flipped down the hwy off my trailer and wiped out at about 100 hrs. It was my first bad boy i bought back before i became a dealer. The factory put a new deck, frame, wheels, etc on it, and so far it has a little over 1800 hours. I replaced 2 belts, 2 sets of deck bearings, an idler pulley, and every once in a while the key would click a few times before starting. After an hour of going through it we found a wire that was touching the frame, wrapped it up, and its good to go now. It still mows & runs perfect, hydros feel strong, I let people demo on it... my guys are extremely hard on equipment, and I can't believe this mower is still alive...LOL. its fell off a pretty high retainer wall and landed upside down with the engine running, and once the ramps slipped out from under it and it fell over again. I am 100% sold on these just cause I know what kindof abuse they can take. She has a lot of scratches and bruises, but she keeps dishing out week after week of hard work....

That is definately a pretty good endorsement... I went and looked at a 3 year old Toro Z500 with a 27HP Kubota diesel in it that had 1600 hours on it. The mower itself looked like it is in good shape and he said that some of the time is from ideling. I can buy that for a few hours anyway.. He wants $6500 for it and said new they are like 12k or so. I wrode the unit and it ran pretty good, just got cold feet from the hours. Any opinion?

sounds kinda high for that many hours, I would be scared, once they get 2000 or so they start to nickle and dime you to death. There is a guy here with a 2005 Grasshopper mid deck diesel with 230 hours for $6500, I would rather buy that lol... should be down in the 3000 to $4000 range with that many hours. The diesels have a 6000 hour lifespan on paper, but all the other stuff will fall apart before then. You buy that for $6500, then replace a pump for $1000, then spindle for $300, you know where I am going.....

That is sort of what I was thinking. I ended up driving the Bad Boy and others but ended up with a new Hustler X-one with a 60" deck. Seemed like the best fit for me. Thanks for all your help!

Man that is like a 10K commerical mower? Man you doubled your initial mower search. Did you look at the Hustler Superduty 60"?

Yes but for the price increase, (1500) the quality of machine is much more. For me because I may use it a little commercially and on a 30 acre farm a bit I figured the bigger machine was a better match. 2011 model and $7,500 vs $6000 for the super duty.
