IMO the Gravely might be the better machine. Certainly has the better engine with the FX Kawi. Have you demoed the two yet? Maybe see if the dealer will drop one off at the house and you can judge which one you like better.

Yes, I demoed them both, then came home, researched and pondered.

I ended up getting the Gravely, that Kawai 26hp motor and the suspension seat was just too hard to pass up. Not to mention I got really good deal on it. So far I really love it.

Good morning Mower Masters! I thought I had things figured out and was planning to purchase a Toro Timecutter 5060 to mow my 2 acre lot. (No trees, no hills, just grass, house, and driveway)

I stopped by the dealer yesterday. He tells me that the Toro 5060 will take about 3 hours to mow my lawn each time. With my young kids and busy job, I don't want to spend 3 hours each week on the mower. So, my first question is does that sound right? 3 hours to mow a 2 acre lot the Toro 5060?

Second question: This dealer also has a used Ferris IS1500. It's an older model, so it doesn't have the icd deck, but it was used by a residential guy and only has 358 hours on it. Also, it has the 25hp Kawa engine. The dealer is asking $4000 for it. Does that sound like a good deal? How many hours should a mower like that run IF properly maintained?

Any input would be MUCH appreciated.

No trees, no hills...No three hours!! IMO it should even take 2 hours to mow two acres with the Toro (But what do I know)!!

Sounds like a great deal on the Ferris if the hours are true!! If maintained properly, that mower should cut your lawn for the rest of your life (exaggeration), but for many many years!! Good luck with your decision and happy mowing!
