Problems with great dane hydros

I have a 36 and a 48. Nothing but trouble right from the start. Anyone else have problems with the clutch to the blades. These machines are 2 1/2 and 1 1/2 years old and I had to replace 3 clutches not to mention the hydro problems. What a headache I thought the hydro was the way to go. I'm not so sure now at least I could replace belts myself. Anyone else having these type of problems, or have any suggestions.

WB or ztrs? Usually wbs dont have as many hydro problems because they way a lot less. Are you using the proper hydro fluid. When it comes to the clutch the only thing I can suggest is idle it down before you shut the blades off and dont engage them above half throttle.

thanks for the reply. They are walk behinds. The clutch only has a pig tail on one end and seems to rub against the provided hole in deck. Thus the mecanic tells me you need to replace the entire clutch. They complain about having to work on Great Danes.

I serviced 6 GD walk behinds for 2 lawn care companies over a perod of 7 years--only 1 replaced wheel motor in that time and all had in the neighborhood of 2000-3000 hours. Although service is not the only answer, the annual hydro filter and oil changes didn't hurt anything.
