edger suggestions

Hey guys I am needing to get an edger and I am wondering if I would better off with a stick edger or a full size edger? also what edgers are you all running? Likes dislikes?
Any info would be helpful.

I guess it all depends on if you are redefining and edge or if you have a customer that needs defined like I had a new account yesterday that had not been done in years. I have a troybilt gas edger I use on those accounts. I have a stihl fs 90 that I put on a Edgit so you can still trim or edge.

We perfer stick edgers. We just bought a new Sthil. We have a McClane edger but haven't used it in years. We start it every now and then just to make sure it still runs. I guess we should sell it.

Stick edgers are faster than walk behinds, get a straight shaf as it'll have more torque than the curved.
I like echo, as far as stick edgers go.
Tanaka makes a nice walk behind though.

Like other guys said, it kind of depends what your going to use it for. If all of your property's have established edges then a stick edger would be my choice. But a walk behind edger is nice to have to cut through over grown edges. We have both and I think we use our McClane edger about twice a year if that, its about 4 seasons old now but looks like its a week old,lol

WB edgers are a nice speciality tool to own. I had an older Craftsman one that I used about 2 or 3 times a year. I was sick of it sitting around so I sold it. It did come in handy on overgrown edges. My stick edger is an Echo, which is light and has enough power for my needs. The only thing I hate about it is that dirt gets stuck in the blade guard very easily.

If I'm edging a concrete driveway or a sidewalk, I want a regular edger; or what you guys call a "walk behind edger."

I prefer McLane because I like the blade hight adjuster a little better than the design on the PowerTrim.

I love edging with my trimmer and can do it perfect. I think edgers are more of a "idiot proof" tool to be honest. Anyway I was going to say check out the "Edgit" attachment for trimmers. I've been looking at it and it looks pretty good. You just attach it to your standard tirimmer and it prevents another trip back to the truck and another trip around the property, like you have to do with any blade edger.
