Gas gauge for a Z500 74296?

Dealer and Toro say none are available, but Kelch Mfg, the supplier of Toro gas caps says they have one that fits. Unfortunately they only sell in bulk, and not to an individual. Anyone out there put a gauge on their Toro? Or should I just keep on "sticking" the tank? I guess most just keep track of hours/fuel consumption and top off as needed.

Thanks for your time.
