Need help on used mower purchase

I'm buying a new mower in the next 48 hours. I messed around on buying my neighbors Scag and he has another guy inline ahead of me now to buy it, but this guy won't give him an answer until he can test drive it, but thats been 2weeks now because of weather and I've got cash in hand time to go buy something.

If the deal falls through here are my two other options I need help with:

2006 Gravely 260 25hp Kawi less than 300 hrs 60''cut Xfactor. Also has lots of options like upgraded seat, and hydraulic deck which I'm undecided about until I use it. Guy says it takes him 2.75hrs to mow 4 acres with it, which seems a little slow to me.

2008 John Deere 727a 54'' 23hp Kawi with less than 100 hrs. Like new, has 7iron 2 deck.

Both have good dealers in my area. I'm trying to run mulch kits as much as possible. The JD will still fit through the opening of my 12x24 shed without putting on a new door. But that is not a huge purchasing decision. Most of my yards are between 5k-20k sq ft but am starting to get larger properties. Both mowers are priced considerably lower than what I would be buying the Scag for.

Also if anyone has a good deal on a 60'' Exmark ZTR for around $5k I would be interested.

Anyone have any opinions. I need to make a decision tonight or tomorrow morning so I can pick it up Sunday. The JD 727 had an offer made on it of what I was going to purchase it for but he was waiting for my answer until tomorrow morning. But I think I'm leaning more towards the Gravely.

I personally own two JD 727A's. Good mowers with no problems. Great deck in the 7 Iron. Pretty good on gas too.

Your choice though. What's the price on the 727?

I was looking for a mower at the same price point past year. Found a 2007 Exmark 56inch hp for 4700 cash. Mower only 156 hours on the 23 kawi, be patient and you will find a good one. Just don't settle, or you will never be happy.
P.s. John deer's are ugly. Just my opinion. Lol

Ive been using the search function on here quite a bit and all the threads had great things to say about both. I ruled out the JD I'm just really worried the grass is really bad here in central IL as we have been having rain every day and all the yards are very tall and wet. I really like what I've read about the Gravely on here and think the machine looks awesome. I'm going tomorrow night to buy it if the Scag falls through. The guy told me he had the dealer install something where you hook up a hose to the deck and turn it on and it cleans the deck out so I'm interested to see what thats about as I've never seen that on a commercial mower

Too Bad, the JD has the best deck for that job. Get the Scag if you can, especially if it has a Velocity deck. Shouldn't have a problem with wet grass either.

So im driving over to look at the gravely now. Im very PO'd cause my neighbor is letting his boy handle the sale of the mower(scag) and I after one day of being iffy I told him to put it up for sale and if I changed my mind i'd let him know. Ive been waiting now for over weeks cause he was waiting for a buddy to test drive it but due to waether he hadnt been able to. Long story short hes had the mower 3 days now and last night I asked if he found out anything and his buddy told him, hed have to talk to,his parents about it today. So I Txt him this morning offering seller $50 for answe either way by noon, and called at 12:30 and got no answer. I was even going to give him more than his asking price had he answered the phone.

Off to look at a very nice gravely, but in a very bad mood and may come home with empty trailer. The snappers 21hp had been putting up a good fight this year. Good inexpensive ztr I may just keep it.

Btw the scag is an 08 tiger cub 25hp kohler 500hrs velocity plus deck 61". Owner is a maintence freak since its his full time job outside of mowing.
