Any gph on the 37hp kawi on the hustler? I bet it drinks it pretty fast with the engine/hydro combo.

new cheetas on parking lots beeh measured with gps (several threads here) - 16 mph
hustler sz - 15 mph (specs)
p.s. on mixed race like this - horsepower and how its delivered by drivetain as a torque - wins

Side by side I would like to see the difference. Of course no tweaking of rpms from spec.

For the race thing. It doesn't work like that when mowing. You don't want or need super accel as it rips/tears the turf in certain conditions.

I demo'd a Scag Cheetah and trust me, it is fast!! The nice thing is with the suspension, you hardly feel any bumps. Scag has really hit a home run with this one.

nothing funny, all runners do it - if they would measure by helmets or necks - it would give him extra tenth of the second, but if by front wheels .... at lest nobody would say he wasn't pushing it hard enough... : )))

that was laserZNext, 11.5 mph rated; jd-12mph; interesting how 12 mph laser z (two-tank model) would stand against jd (same rated speed, exmark- lighter)

actually - results with tearing grass pretty similar to results without (tearing turf doesn't help much - not on the mowers, it's not like with bikes : ))))
reminds me our racing old new sz (15mph) vs. frontmount grasshopper (slightly modified, about 13 mph) - on 30-40 yards back-and-force race sz doesn't had a chance to use his speed fully - when frontmount turns on the dime - midmount slides through or has to slow down far ahead, then trying to catch up - time to slow down for next u-turn...
results been similar with or without turf damage
ps. pict - slightly modified GH (wheels slightly oversized, fenders had to go), code name Crazy Cow - now belongs to landscaping crews - removed off grasscut duty due to nasty character - if you not nice to her - she becomes very unsafe to ride, does crazy front wheelies (stoppies) - can throw you out and run you over (literally) ... : )))))

There is an old thread on here somewhere that was labeled drag race. It had the Xtreme 3360 Dixie against a hustler super z and a bladerunner. The hustler beat the dixie every time easily. I was there and watched it.

I agree, but he did blow a anti-scalp wheel off. And I thought my Super Z was bad about breaking anti-scalp wheels [well if that would have been a XR-7 deck one or two might have broke off]

But the mower deck will still feel the bumps. so it seems like the suspension platform would not really allow any faster cutting than the non suspension platform models, because regardless of how you are isolated from all of the bumps (on rough, bumpy ground ) the rest of the mower, including the mower deck will be reacting to all of those bumps. We all know what kind of a cut a bouncing deck will leave.
