Aerating a large property
One of the condo's we maintain wants us to aerate the property. I have a small walk behind aerator for hills and small spots. But the total property is right around 13 acres. Any suggestions on equipment that I can use? And ballpark price. I am thinking right around $2,600-$3,200. Does this seem low, or fair? I haven't really bid on anything this big. I think they will shoot it down, but I want to give them a price at least.
Thanks, Brant

Our 12.5 m place we charge 3500-3850 to do it so you will be fine. But can you get a larger unit in there, we use a 60 inch source one and overlap our pass by half and let me tell you it will pull a lot of plugs. And deep ones. We get 3-5 inch plugs all the time

R&R- is your aerator the pull behind plugr? If so how do you like it? They look sweet but look like they could be maintenance intensive.
As far as price, that probably sounds about right but I would never attempt that kind of footage with a walk behind unless it's really close quarters. Posted via Mobile Device Last edited by pieperlc; 05-07-2011 at 09:05 PM. |

Dude I love that thing. It's nice to go from 36-48 for parkways to 60 for the large spots. There is not much to it just keep it clean it gets power washed every day it comes back and fluid filmed a lot. Just keep some spare spoons on hand, it will go down 6 inches if the soil is just right. One pass I think there is about 8 or so holes that's why we do a half overlap and get great results from it.

12.5 m ??? What is 'm' supposed to represent and how does it compare to 13 Acres... ?
How many hours to do 1 A. with a 60" wide overlap? which means 30" gain, one way? What kind of ground is it? Little pebbles under the surface is a killer. And lastly, Who's the idiot that wants to aerate 13 acres of grass? and for what reason?...

Smallaxe is right. Aeration is for football fields. And what about liability. How many cable TV cables will you cut? How many sprinkler heads destroyed? Phone lines? Complaints about all those plugs? Complaints about the dirt and mud dragged into the units?
