This stuff is taking over my yard. Anything to get rid of it or do I just wait until it gets burned up later in the summer?

That crap is everwhere in my area this year also. The cheapeast way is to just let the heat get it, but it has been pretty darn cool this year. What type of grass do you have?

I planted Sahara Bermuda in mid August so it didn't spread very well. It is just now starting to green up here in the Arlington area, but that rye weed is everywhere. My reel mower can't cut it so I have to weedeat every 4-5 days.

Come on AG!! Mojo that is called Rescue grass. Very common winter weed. You have a couple options, a. let it burn out with the summer heat, b. spray it with Simazine, although it maybe to late on your bermuda, or c. spray it with Revolver or any of the sulfuros will kill it. Certainity, monument, etc..

I agree 100% that it is rescue grass, I just was having a brain fart the other day and could not remember the proper name because most everyone around here just calls it pasture rye.
It should start to die out pretty fast with your mowing and higher temps so I do not know that I would spray it since you put down the Bermuda seed. Just put down pre-m in early Sept and maybe a little more pre-m in mid Dec to help keep it out next spring.
Oh BTW, this stuff usally pulls out of the ground pretty easy so 10 minutes in the afternoon for a few days would do wonders.
