How LONG after planting bermuda?
Just planted some bermuda in yard. How long should we wait before we mow it for the first time. it has been right at two weeks since we seeded it, and the grass is just started to come up good. Should we wait to let it get extememly tall the first time or just whenever? Thanks

Mow when it reaches the height you're "normally" mow it at. So if it's a variety you'd mow at 1.5" mow when it hits about 2.25" or so. I'd mow it early on at the high range for that variety, then once it's more firmly established you can take it lower as it gets stronger and you top dress to smooth the surface as needed to get it really low.
Use very sharp blades to avoid pulling up any seedlings with dull ones and use a light mower. If you tilled and amended the soil it will be a while before it completely settles and you don't want ruts from a heavy machine if you can avoid it. Be patient, it will take a while to look fully mature. |
