Box Truck Set Up

This is on my wish list for 2013. Doing some research to see what it will cost to operate and whether or not its even worth the extra expense compared to just buying an enclosed trailer and calling it the day. I pretty much pay cash for all of my equipment that way I'm working for myself and not the bank. In this case I think a nice cabover would cost in the range of $13-$22K. I would have to finance it.

Diesel, the guy that operates this truck says he gets about 11mpg with a light foot. I love the truck, just wondering do I dive in or play it safe on the sideline.

Thanks for the feedback, I'm going to see what it will cost to insure the truck. The only thing that scares me is the fuel costs and another drought this summer. I would hate to have this thing sitting there and having to pay for it to sit there.

My insurance is cheap, but Im old and in Bama. 11mpg is likley what a pu towing a trailer would get.

If you don't mind me asking, what are your paying to insure the vehicle and who are you using? Im checking with USAA to get a quote.

Im in Alabama in a rural county and Im 48, and insure 6 other cars with the agent.

It does pay to shop around and dont get any tickets.

I got a quote of around $60 bucks a month. I can handle that. How about maintenance, oil changes, brakes?
