Im kind of in the same situation, but I handled it a little different.
Just out of highschool and I needed an employee. I had 20 clients and was out on an injury. I hired one of my friends and he asks me "so... are we partners?"

I thought about it. Then I said. "Heck no. You work for me."

I thought, Im the one thats made every hard decision over the past two years, the one who spent alot of money on equipment, the one who marketed, the one who kept clients happy, the one who ran everything. I don't want this guy to become my equal because he doesnt know squat. He works for me.

Thats the way it should be.
