Hustler super z up in smoke
I am new to the site. My super z caught on fire i think the fuel line sprang a leak long story short the top of the motor melted it had 500 hundred ours and was leaking oil anyway, the wiring harness is toasted air filter is melted and several hoses for the pump cooler. I was told that a 31 horse kawasaki would be a good upgrade instead of going back with another 25 horse. I will change out the clutch if need be, What is everybodys suggestion I know it will be costly but I cant afford a new one, it is a 2003 model926980 with 500 hours so i would like to rebuild. Thanks for any input.

As you know it wont be a cheap upgrade.
If the rest of the mower is in good shape its likely worth it to do it. Pj

I saw a 37hp on eBay for 1600, wasn't a bad price...

Been there, did that. I had to replace the hydro oil cooler lines, rewire the electrical harness. Everything but the back of the seat lived. I installed a Briggs 27HP Pro Series for 700.00. Had to have a spacer for the clutch spacing. But on my 72" I have no problems in FL with the fast paced St. Augustine.
