Ya.... next year will be better. I will just bust my ass in the spring and hope for the best. The reason I lost all the commercial stuff was because I did a lot of work for a guy that happened to own the building my moms company was leasing. When they got into it he pulled all of his properties out from under ne with in a month. Totally blindsided me. I dont know if Id call the pricing competitive or just ridiculous. Seems like here in Southern Oregon ever guy the loses his job at McDonalds decides he is a landscaper. Throws a mower in his trunk an charges 10 a yard for hack job work but people are just glad its cheap. Then you or I shows up with a realistic bid and the customer looks at us like were on drugs.

Yeah for sure, its happening all around us though whether we like it or not, but its up to us licensed and insured "Businesses" to stick to our guns and be firm on our pricing methods, etc... These undercutting fly by night guys won't be around for the long run like I'm in business for the long haul.... But I gotta be honest, its not just small guys, its also some large companies as well bidding cheap to get a huge volume of work, sad but true as I've seen it several times recently on big property bids where i didn't win I asked to see the bids and who was awarded and for how much, and guess what It was one of the largest companies in town for a well lower price than my bid....

Big companies get better prices for fertilizer, equipment .... That's why they could bid low they make their money on the extras irrigation repair, landscape renovation, and so on.
