Information on PTO powered stump grinders

Here is my issue. Good new stump grinders are about $15,000 and up. So I was thinking, why not buy a used tractor and a pto stump grinder. Are they any good and which is a good one, and how much?

Yes, Stump grinders work great!

I dig a lot of stumps with a Backhoe and Mini Ex', and I have found that stump grinders are much better to use because they save a lot of wear & tear on equipment, and me!. . I hate digging stumps.

I don't own one, I rent one.

This is the type I use. . Woods 50-100 PTO HP Stump Grinder - Model SG100

Woods also has one for smaller tractors. . Woods 15-50 PTO HP Stump Grinder - Model TSG50

If I dig a stump with a BH it makes a big mess in the yard and I have to haul in dirt to fill in the hole, put down grass seed and straw.

I couldn't find a YouTube of a Woods stump grinder. . Here's a YouTube of another brand. . http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C13GqSNzBes

I was looking at one from shaver manufacturing. Looks like the same as woods.

Had 75 stumps to grind one inch to one foot. Looked at a rear-mount, its price plus the cost of installing remote hydraulics. Also priced hiring a specialist with a dedicated grinder that's self-powered (drives itself to the next stump).

Instead, rented a 13-horse grinder locally and hired two guys. A hundred for the rental, a hundred for both guys, and the job was done at a small fraction of the alternatives. (Home Depot had a similar grinder but wouldn't reserve it.)
