Am I in over my head with tree limbs?

After reading many of these comments, and thinking hard about this job, I have decided it would be better to pass it on. I have never dealt with sub-contractors, how do I find one? Do I just call a local big company and ask them to give me a price for the job? I know nothing lol.

Just rent a 16 foot high side trailer from your local rental shop and make one trip to the dump. Check to see if your county has a brush dump for cheap.

Cut the smaller branches off the limb first, then cut the large trunks.

Quit telling him to rent a dump trailer, a 16 foot trailer, etc. The kid drives a dodge dakota per his signature so I don't think he is equipped to pull jack, oh and I doubt that pick up bed will hold a large load

How high are the branches? what kind of tree? and wouldn't a tip pruning accomplish the same thing?

I think you made the right choice. Not that you couldnt do a good job, but there are a lot of variables and you would need to cover your 3-4 trips to the dump. Thats approx 3 hours just travelling, not including your gas and dump fee (which seems outrageous BTW).
Then your into it another couple hours on site. Hard to tell with the pics.
I have more equipment now than when I started, but still to this day turn down work if I feel I am not equipped or experienced enough to handle it. It stinks, but sometimes doing that will save your name in the long run. All it takes is one unhappy customer for your name to go from Stud to Mud.

I didn't catch that till after the fact. I have a Dakota, it will get the load moving, stopping on the other hand....

Around here you need to have an arborist license to do something like that. I'd pass and I used to work as a ground man for a tree service.

That one bottom limb of this Sycamore tree will weigh around a ton or more just in girth. The way the limb is jotting out like it is pretty much tells me there is surrounding things underneath that pose a real risk hazard. You will need to rope off a limb of this size and take down piece at a time. This involves arborist rigging and definitely a trained groundman.
After you log out that wood into rolling pieces, the labor involved is still pretty arduous. You will need to sub this out to a arborist and save yourself possible liability problems. The most beneficial problem at hand is your safety with no prior knowledge on taking down limbs like this.
