Yukon, Riviera, or other bermuda

I'm looking at Yukon or Riviera bermuda to seed next spring. I'm trying to get everything in order now so I won't be scrambling at the last minute. I'm in eastern NC. I do have a rotary mower, but I know a reel would be better. Which have bermuda have you seen that looks better. I think I've only seen common so I don't know how either looks except for a few pics online. Or, if there is another type of bermuda seed that would work better I'm open to other suggestions.

Do you have to seed? No plugging? I have used Yukon once and it will not give me the color or density of 419.

Here is a Link to help you learn about these two: http://www.bermudagrass.com/info/yukonforsports.html

Seeded varieties will do well with a rotary given the blades are sharp. Tiff like 419 looks good with a rotary as well but the blades and frequency of mowing are important. This is Tif419 maintained with a rotary:

I did celebration. I did it by cuttig Sod into quarters letting it spread. It's a work in process.

Search the renovation topics for plugging experiment. Should be on 1st page.

Is there any need to get a good quality seed like yukon, riviera, or any other type of quality seed if I won't be able to find or purchase a reel?

Its been awhile since I've posted in this thread, but after I posted this thread and did call a few shops and golf courses to see where to get a reel mower sharpened and backlapped. The golf course said they did it themselves but didn't do it for other people. So I'm not sure I'm going to be able to get a reel mower. So is there any advantage or need to get a quality seed like Yukon or Riviera since I will be using a rotary? Will bermuda look good mowed with a rotary?

If you can't cut with a reel mower it's not the end of the world. Mow with a rotary at 1 1/2 inch's when it's dry, like late afternoon. Keep the blade as sharp as you can. It's not going to look perfect, but it will look good enough until you can get the reel thing together.

I can't begin to describe the advantage's of using riviera or yukon. If you did a side by side comparison between those two varieties and common bermuda you would agree.
