Grass Masters from the beginnings to present, LOTS OF PICS

We started Grass Masters three years ago when we were about to be seniors in high school and here is what we used:

48" Toro Titan, 50" Cub Cadet, Yardman Rider that never really got used much.
16' tandem axle trailer. Stihl Kombi unit and echo weedeater

we only had maybe 7-10 accounts roughly but these are what got us started

traded a few things for this 54" JD walk behind that definitely didnt get used much but it was there

here's a pic of everything lined up, although the dixie chopper wasnt ours one of the ladies we mowed for let us use it on her property instead of our own equiptment. we thought that was the best mower ever at that time! haha

our first year this is pretty much what we used to mow everything with

the next spring, which was last spring 2011, we sold the Cub Cadet for $2100 and traded the Toro and $3200 on a 2008 Grasshopper 223 w/ a 52" deck that only had like 40 hours on it

here's a pic of the 52"

we also got another 223 Grasshopper but it had a 61" deck

both of these Grasshopper's were in excellent condition and we loved them! we got bagger's for both of them for pretty reasonable prices. we gave $1500 for one bagger and $1000 for another, I think.

in the picture above you can also see the custom gate we made. we had to extend the gate with another 2' section so we installed a winch because it was so heavy! you can also see the GreenTouch weedeater rack that we bough after the Joplin tornado destroyed our other rack and weedeaters. That is also why we have 2 new Stihl weedeaters and 1 new Stihl Edger. The Kombi unit survived the tornado. This trailer took a direct hit with the mowers and everything on it.

here's the truck that was hooked to the trailer when the tornado hit

we also got 2 new Stihl Backpack Blowers after the tornado and made some custom mounts for them on the trailer

heres a picture of everything on the trailer

one of the bagger on the 61"

this is what we used for the second year of mowing. we had roughly 15 accounts this year.

We got 2 new mowers with baggers, 2 Stihl FS100RX trimmers, 2 Stihl BR 340? Backpack blowers unsure of actual number, 1 Stihl FS95 Edger, Green Touch trimmer rack, trimmer line rack, custom made backpack blower mounts, and custom gas can rack, backpack sprayer, and signs on the trailer.

Will continue posting pics tomorrow or this years new toys

Hey man, small world I'm not too far from you in Springfield, well at least for a few more weeks until graduation.

Hope things are going well for you, that tornado was ridiculous. I had been to Joplin a couple times and it was unreal seeing it afterwards.

Great work...you guys have come a long way in a short period of time, and through a tornado and everything.

forgot to mention that i gave $5500 for the 61" 223 and $6000 for the 223 w/ 52" and during the fall of 2011 i traded my fourwheeler for a 725K front mount Grasshopper, here it is:
had 1200 hours on it but was a really good running machine

i sold the front mount for $3800 about 2 months after i traded for it and i also sold the 61" 223 to the same guy for $5100. so i didnt make out to bad on those, especially since i had the fourwheeler for sale for only $3000! and used the 61" for a full season and put almost 200 hours on it and lost $400 on the deal.

after i sold those two mowers i found a good deal on an exmark mower that i had planned on using for this season...here it is
2007 with a 28hp EFI Kohler on it, 60" cut, with 250 hours,

only gave $5000 for this machine and within a month of buying this and cleaning it all up for mowing season i found a SMOKING deal on a 428D grasshopper and since i still had a bagger for the grasshopper i figured it would be a good idea to stay with Grasshopper.

so i made the move and picked up the 428D with the hope of selling the Exmark quick!

i ended up making out pretty well and selling the Exmark for $5800 a few weeks after i bought the 428D.

i then fabricated my 200 series hopper mount to fit the 428D because i didnt want to spend $400 on a new mount

here's the fabricated mount:

the 428D had 495 hours on it when i bought it and I absolutely love this machine! we found a good deal on a grasshopper about the same time we found the 428D and it was a 327 Grasshopper with 550 hours on it so my partner picked it up for $5000

he then sold his 52" 223 for $5500 and came out pretty well on that deal. I then had to make his 200 series mount fit the 327 which wasnt as hard as the first time since i already knew what i needed to do.

here they are together on the old trailer

so now we have two bigger Grasshoppers with baggers still and now its time for a walk behind of some sort. we were renting a skid loader and at the rental store they had a Toro Grandstand 48" for sale. It had a freshly rebuilt engine with 650 hours on the mower and they only wanted $2000 for it so we picked it up because we picked up some smaller yards this season

here's the Grandstand and the Rack'm grasscatcher i bought off LawnSite

then we decided it was time for a bigger trailer so we sold the 16' for $1750 and ordered a custom 20' trailer that was 18' with a 2' dove tail and 4' gate with sheet metal sides for mulch.

here's the new trailer: with the GreenTouch rack and hedge rack mounted
still have to mount the backpack blower mounts and the gas can holder
