Selling your business

I am putting my business up for sale and I have a few questions regarding the pending sale.

I understand the value associated with lawn care packages (weed control, fertilizing, etc) and that in order to easily sell your business you must have contracts in place.

My question regards aerations. I have a large aeration list.

What is my aeration list worth? 30% of gross? 20% of gross? Or is it worth more or less?

If you do not have a transferable agreement, then essentially, what you have is a lead sheet. If you can get the customer to sign off on next years service, then you can ask 20 to 30 percent. Depending on many factors (size of list profitability of previous service, etc.) a lead sheet might be worth 5 to 10 bucks a name.

Keep in mind that the value of anything is exactly what someone is willing to pay for it.
