Wordpress Alternative
Recently, I took a Wordpress class at a local college for 2 evenings for CEUs toward qualifying renewal of my Landscape license ( ... spit !!)
Anyway, to not let my $55 go to complete waste, I took an extra domain name I had hosted,Oregon Photographer, and just stuffed Wordpress right into it. I do have a landing page, but could have just done the blog on it's own if I wanted. At Hostgator, where it's hosted, I found an option to automatically install Wordpress. So it's not on Wordpress.com nor Wordpress.org The more I tinkered with it on my extra photography site, I realized it wouldn't be a bad option for someone who might want a super inexpensive website with substantial content control. Comments can even be disabled. New pages can be made. A landing page can be set instead of a long blog page. New pages can be put in the menu and arranged numerically. And small image galleries can be inserted in pages or posts.

Funny you should mention that, Mario, I've been building more and more with wordpress templates and less and less with dreamweaver.
Not only is it quicker, but it's simple enough for my clients to be able to do their own updating and photo uploading, which really saves me a lot of grunt work. I'll have to look into Joomla...

Joomla? Personally I can tell you Google either loves me or WordPress, because since December 1st my site/s have been crawling the rankings at an alarming rate.
So I would highly recommend WordPress for business owners, for there is millions of themes or templates that can be installed in less than one minute to the greatest content management system in the WORLD! |

Wordpress really has become a nice CMS and less of a blogging platform over the past few years and it works well from new users to skilled designers. Just treat plugins like you would software on your home computer. Some are better than others and may break your site

The only reason I started the site linked in the OP > Portland Photographer M. D. Vaden Was ..... to learn Joomla. Not so much to just have Joomla, but just to learn it. I was considering helping my son handle overflow for his website business, and started the site with Joomla just to learn the ins and outs. I decided that I did not like Joomla much. Don't think my son is doing sites with it either right now. But I sure like doing the Wordpress site. My main site mdvaden.com in my signature, is HTML and that I do in Dreamweaver. Done enough HTML that it's pretty easy. But I can tell right not that the Wordpress are much more user-friendly for people new to website content.
