a few thoughts about service magic

I have been tracking my expenses and sales from service magic this year, and so far I have gotten 19 leads, some exact and some sent to other pro's, I have had call backs from 7 leads, bid 5, closed 2 for around $3300. my fees for the leads have been $290. so while I hate the leads that waste time and I get charged for, in the end, $290 for $3300 is a fair return on marketing investment. I will be working on my member home page there with photos and getting clients to post reviews, so to create more exact match leads that only go to me.

another way to look at this is would I be happy spending $10,000 bucks to get 100k in sales. Of course the answer is yes.

Having leads sent to text helped me loads this year in noticing leads and calling folks quick.

one thing to watch is leads often are mis classified as a business lead and cost 20 bucks instead of 13 for a residential. in the description they mention they want lights on their home, but they click the holiday lighting installed for business. you have to call service magic to get that 7 bucks back.

I'm glad you mentioned the commercial thing because I had two of three leads that were the same way. I got one job out of three. One lead was just a quick phone conversation where it was apparent the well was dry and it would be a wasted trip. So far I'm content with the Service Magic experiment.

I did the thing as well but it didn't produce anything thus far.

I try to call back every time in less then 60 seconds since the early bird gets the worm much of the time. On the job I landed I don't think she even took bids from the two other contractors who got the lead as well. My special this year of LED C7's for $1.50 (regular $2.99) a foot helped seal some deals.

Have not had a chance to look at the total leads that they generated for us yet. We did get 3 or 4 more from them yesterday. Seems like interest picked back up yesterday with the notices I got on my phone from service magic and the internet.

So far service magic has not led directly to a sale, it did save me a 2600 job. By that I mean, I met with them and gave an estimate, 2 days later I got a service magic lead for that customer, got in touch with her and told her we were the preferred vendor for service magic and reviewed her estimate, she signed up. So I call that a save by service magic, I think she was surprised by the price and was shopping me, but service magic made her comfortable with pulling the trigger.

Any body get a lead from christmas light leads this year? not a peep out of them since I signed up.....
