thats a good price for a SM. it has some extras on a top machine. the dealer is crazy on his changover price. 1300 is what i was quoted for the same job.

Maybe I'm asking them for the wrong change over?? The machine has 4 sticks I want only 2 sticks in a sae pattern can that be done?

it can be done the price they are asking just seems high. but things are a little higher in your neck of the woods i believe.

I say get an oil sample analysis before you buy. It would make me confident in the seller if he didn't mind.

Plus the analysis is really cheap 10-15 bucks to get an idea on the wear on the motor is worth it to me. Maybe get a hydraulic analysis done as well since it has 3k hours in it.

Just my opinion though.

So i finally got an answer from my dealer today.

Kit- $580
2 wobble sticks for sae pattern- $100
labor any where from 6-8 hours at $ 120 hr
plus your tax of course. This job will cost anywhere from 1500-1800

I just can't see an operation like yours buying a machine with that many hours. Don't you typically buy new(er) machines?

Yes we always buy new. But in this case you will not catxh us spending 100 k on a backhoe no way. If I was using it everyday then yes I would. But like I said this is for snow removal and city jobs where I will be digging curb trees and some other odds and ends. Also from what I'm told 3000 hours is not that bad for a backhoe and for a case machine I'm hearing its nothing
