If you call "ANY" company and I mean "ANY" company and try to make a payment over the phone with a credit card they are going to charge you a fee. These people who run these companys are not stupid and are very smart at getting every single dollar out of you they can.

And I dont think I made myself clear with my first post, I only charge a fee if they are paying over the phone, when you manually enter payment using SquareUp they increase the fee for running the card. If they pay with a card at the door I'll eat the small fee, sure beats going to the bank.

SquareUp doesnt charge any on going fee's per month like traditional CC machine companys. You are not in a contract, they dont charge you for the equipment, you dont have to keep a landline.

All this PCI non compliant, they are going to sue you, whatever...we are mowing lawns and we need our money now...not later...not when the customer feels like mailing a check...now. As Lawn Companys every second of every day we are costing our selves money...they faster we get payed the better our pockets feel.

Need I say more. Like I said some states don't allow it.

I may be wrong but I am 99 percent positive that you can't charge the customer the credit card fee. Atleast not in nebraska. You can try rewording it by saying its someother fee.

there is an option to charge them tax so you could always add that in there to try and bump up the charge

If you guys are interviewing your customer properly before you give them a bid, you can always ask how they will be paying. Adjust your prices accordingly for the job. But whatever you do, don't add a surcharge for using a credit card. If it's a $200 job who cares? 10 grand is a different story.

I have the phone swipe one and works great. I give the customers a 3% cash discount. And I no longer take checks from anyone its cash or card only.

My chimney sweep company told me last month that there would be a 3% surcharge if I paid by credit card. They accepted checks but had a hard time with cash because they didn't always have change. I am in Michigan.
