Our old house has a huge, mature orange tree that had great oranges for making juice. No idea what type, but its typically ready for picking in Feb/March. Always let the neighbors eat em, but I just like the OJ. Just planted 8 babies at our new place... now playing the waiting game. CA strawberries are nasty... oversized with no flavor. Strawberries should be red inside, not white.

Look at the Bright side

.

Door Yard Citrus Now becomes more valuable and opens up a new Market. Citrus Caretaker is now a Special niche market. Add in installation and sales of other Fruit Barring trees like Mangoes and Star fruit Etc and you have a whole new business.

While a Full Commercial L&O license might work better because of legally being able to power spray. A Limited License could work also. It would mean more systemic granules as preventive treatment. It would also mean pumping a back with a sore arm at the end of a long day.

You can tell when it hasn't been sitting in the tank for a year. During the late winter and spring, sometimes it almost tastes like orange juice. Almost.

Natalie's Orchard Island Orange Juice is a little too expensive for me. But on the rare occasion when Publix puts it on sale, it's worth picking up. Unfortunately they only have the Gourmet around here, not the Fresh Squeezed. Shelf life on the fresh squeezed is just to short for them to have on the shelves.

I am lucky right now in the fact I live in an older neighborhood with several Citrus trees. I am still getting plenty of free fresh OJ this season but the age of the trees is not good and it won't be long before they all die off.

Enjoy whatever FL OJ you can get, it may be around long.

I'm consulting for a client that has some large groves south of Okeechobee and he says he's very concerned about the future of the citrus industry in FL because Citrus Greening continues to spread and no effective control has been found.

He's very involved with the programs that have been tried so far and he's not optimistic at all.

Frigging State came by and yanked all the Citrus down here. We used to have excellent oranges, tangellos and grapefruit but... oh well.

BTW; We just installed irrigation scrubbers to several groves in Martin and Okeechobee counties. Apparently there is a resistant tree that they are planting.

Back to vodka and cranberry juice... for now.

Just get rid of the cranberry juice and that might be alright.....or skip it all together and import the only thing good about Canada - Crown Royal.
